Mother jailed for beating kid

Hyderabad: A woman who along with her parents had beaten her 18-month old daughter was convicted by a court on Tuesday. The court directed the girl’s mother to undergo one year of rigorous imprisonment and her grandparents to undergo three months of rigorous imprisonment and pay fine to the court.


According to Rachakonda police, On December 1, 2016, the Kushaiguda police registered a case against one Jaya, 20, her father K Anjaiah, 47, and mother K Laxmi, 37, based on a complaint from a District Child Protection Officer that the trio was found to be beating Jaya’s daughter, an 18-month old girl in a drunk condition and was creating nuisance at Radhika X roads.


The police said that it was found that Jaya had hit her daughter to the ground and caused severe injuries and also she and her parents were found earlier beating the child. The trio was arrested and remanded subsequently. After the investigation, the case was charge-sheeted before Nineteenth Metropolitan Magistrate Court. After the trial, the Court gave a judgement on Tuesday convicting Jaya and her parents under sections 336, 324 and 268 of IPC, and section 77 of JJ Act. Jaya was directed to undergo one year of rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs 1,150 towards fine and her parents were directed to undergo three months of rigorous imprisonment.
