Warangal: As many as 4,000 hens succumbed to intense heat inside a poultry farm in Warangal Rural district on Monday, after power supply snapped last week.

The poultry farm localted in AK thanda of Rayaparthy mandal is owned by one Modu Chukru. Mr Chukru said that the staff had made preparations to keep the sheds cool to protect its 5,000 hens from the summer heat. However, due to heavy winds last week, electricity wires were snapped in the area and the electricity department stopped power supply to the area to take up repairs. “Even after repeated appeals, they took three days to replace the wires and one day to restore power supply. During this time, the hens died,” he said.
