Youth suffers burns- Snow Spray caught fire on Birthday Boy

KAKINADA: A 20-year-old who was lighting a sparkler candle on the cake to celebrate his birthday suffered burns when his friends sprayed foam.


Sources said K. Vamsi  was celebrating his birthday at the Mandapet crossroads on Friday when the incident occurred. This is part of a trend among youngsters to celebrate their birthdays in public places at midnight. Mandapet is 47 km from Kakinada.


According to the sources, the foam that his friends sprayed on Vamsi was ignited by the birthday candle. Vamsi suffered burns on his face and his hair was burnt.


His friends immediately put out the fire immediately and he was taken to a hospital for treatment. The incident became known widely after a video of the incident was widely shared on social media.


An experts said that people should not use such chemicals without reading the precautions.


Prof. K.V. Rao, petroleum and petrochemicals programme director at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada, said that foam contains hydrocarbons. When it is sprayed on a flame, it may catch fire.
