25 mopeds recovered, 1 arrested

Nellore: Ongole Central Crime Station sleuths, led by Dy SP A. Prasad Kumar and Ongole sub-divisional police officer T. Radhesh Murali, recovered 25 TVS Moped (XL) vehicles worth `6.25 lakh from a habitual offender. The accused identified as Uppala Purnachandra Rao, 45, belongs to Eethamukkala village in Kottapatnam mandal of Prakasam district, and was arrested on Tuesday. There are cases filed against the offender at Kandukur, Singaraya-konda, Chinnganjam and Ongole I Town police station. Crime police formed teams at the instance of SP Siddharth Kaushal following a spurt in the number of two-wheelers robbed and tracked down the accused.


The SP appreciated the teams for nabbing the accused and recovering the motorcycles.


The police invited people who lost their TVS mopeds to check if their vehicle is one among the recovered two-wheelers recovered by them.
