Hyderabad: A pregnant woman who went missing from Kandukur was found dead on the outskirts of Ibrahimpatnam on Sunday morning. The police identified the woman as Nenavath Saritha, 22, a native of Ajjilapuram village of Nalgonda district.

On Sunday morning, locals found the body lying at Chintapallyguda and alerted the Ibrahimpatnam police. The police along with a dog squad and Clues team went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to a government hospital mortuary for the autopsy.

According to an  Ibrahim-patnam police official, the victim was married to N. Raju, a car driver hailing from Kandukur mandal, in May 2018.

“Saritha was missing on Friday and a case was registered at Kandukur police station following a complaint from her brother. Saritha was five months pregnant,” Ibrahimpat-nam assistant commissioner of police V. Yadagiri Reddy said.

“It is suspected that she was strangled two days ago. Her husband Raju is being questioned,” he said.

The ACP said that the Saritha’s family members were reluctant to file a complaint and had been demanding that it be handed over to her husband. The family was also demanding compensation for Saritha’s death.

“The police is counselling them to lodge a complaint,” Mr Yadagiri Reddy said.
