Youth jailed for harassing the minor girl

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old man held for harassing a minor girl was convicted by court on Friday. The court directed the accused to undergo two days of imprisonment and pay Rs 50 towards the penalty.


Chaitanyapuri sub-inspector B. Sai Prakash said that the accused, identified as M. Suresh, 22, is a resident of Mohan Nagar, Kothapet, and works at a hotel. Suresh had been following his victim, a schoolgirl, for almost a week.


Two days ago, the girl noticed him following her and passing lewd comments. Subsequently, she informed her parents, who lodged a complaint. Suresh was taken into police custody.


During questioning, he confessed to having harassed the girl and said that he had been following her for a week.


A case was registered against him under the City Police Act and he was produced before a court, which convicted him and sentenced him to two days in prison, the SI said.
