Steel firm owner dies of stabbing

Hyderabad: A man who was stabbed in Punjagutta on Saturday evening died while undergoing treatment on Sunday.


Family members of the victim, T. Ramprasad, 49, alleged that one K. Satyam had hatched the plot to kill him. In a complaint to the police, they said he had threatened Ramprasad in the past.


According to Punjagutta ACP M. Thirupathannna, Ramprasad left his office in the evening and went to the Venkateswara temple at about 8 pm. As he was walking home, he was Stabbed by persons. Passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he died early on Saturday while undergoing treatment.


As per the complaint  there was a financial dispute between Ramprasad and Satyam. They were managing partners  of a private steel plant in Vijayawada. After some years, it turned out that Ramparsad had lodged a complaint stating that Satyam should pay him Rs 50 crore. The police arrested Satyam, who is out on bail.


Speaking to the media Satyam said, “I have nothing to do with the murder. it is a loss for me. He has to give me around Rs 70 crore. I never threatened him, it was only a request.”


West zone DCP A.R. Srinivas along with Mr Thirupathanna visited the scene. Special teams were formed to check the CCTV footage of the attack and nab the assailants.


The police is also planning to question Satyam as part of investigations into the case.
