Hyderabad: In order to ease traffic congestion in Malakpet, the GHMC has decided to construct one more road under bridge (RuB) along with the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited.

Corporation commissioner M. Dana Kishore instructed officials to inspect the site and identify the land parcels and number of structures to be acquired.

He asked them to discard the previous survey and conduct a fresh survey to meet the current traffic demand.

Malakpet is one of the high traffic zones in the city and has a existing bridge near the railway station. Thousands of vehicles take the RuB, which facilitates passage towards the Dilsukhnagar side from the Chaderghat.

Due to the narrow carriageway, traffic moves at a snail’s pace, and the situation worsened after the advent of Metro Rail.

Considering all these factors, the GHMC has proposed constructing an additional vent for the existing RuB at Malakpet station.

The road has been proposed to be widened from the existing 46.5 metre to 53.80 metre so as to facilitate construction of the additional vent.

Mr Kishore urged officials to expedite the land acquisition process and start the project for a hassle-free journey.
