Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has taken the  stand to support the electronic voting machines (EVMs), not paper ballot. Dismissing fears of tampering in the EVMs, TRS MP  B. Vinod Kumar said that those who had lost the polls had issues with the ballot machines. While addressing a press conference, he said, “We have no problems with EVMs. We have attended the meetings convened by the Election Commission and are absolutely satisfied with its explanation on the functioning of the machines.” He said that some people who were thoroughly disappointed with their defeat in the elections were criticising EVMs and their party chief.

Referring to the demand of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that the Election Commission must seek the opinion of all political parties and revert to the paper ballot system immediately, the TRS MP said that their party strongly opposed the demand for the revival of the ballot voting system. He said, “We don’t want to join the issue. This is our party’s stand.”

The AP Chief Minister had raised a hue and cry against EVMs in the back drop of the allegation levelled by cyber-expert Syed Shuja at a press conference in London on Monday that the BJP had come to power at the Centre in 2014 due to large-scale tampering of EVMs.
