Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao will not attend the mega rally of all Opposition parties being organised by his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Saturday as he does not want to share the dais with the Congress and TDP.  It may be mentioned here that KCR has been making efforts to stitch an alliance of like-minded parties which were opposed to the BJP and Congress at national level.

In fact, KCR had met Mamata Banerjee twice hoping that she would be a prospective political partner but since the West Bengal Chief Minister did not give any positive indication and on the other hand she had invited the Congress and the TDP, KCR wants to maintain safe distance. The TMC president did call the TRS chief on phone and invited the latter to attend the rally.

But KCR is said to have turned down the invitation since it goes against the basic principle of the proposed Federal Front. A TRS senior leader said KCR had put the condition before the TMC president that he would take part in the rally only if the TDP was kept away from sharing the dais with him.

As he did not get any assurance to his demand, the Telangana CM decided to stay away from participating the rally.  The leader, however, said KCR will continue to maintain political relations with Mamata and pursue with her on the issue of the Federal Front.
