Andhra CM inaugurates renovated Bapu Museum in Vijayawada

Vijayawada, Oct 1 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the renovated Bapu Museum in Vijayawada on Thursday.

"Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has inaugurated the renovated Bapu Museum in Vijayawada," said an official.

Reddy has also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's portrait in the museum.

It has been renovated at a cost of Rs 8 crore and consists of seven galleries.

Incidentally, the museum shut for 10 years and renovated by the archaeology department showcases several idols and historically important articles.

As many as 1,500 historical attractions have been displayed in the two-storeyed museum.

Reddy also unveiled a bust of Pingali Venkayya, the designer of Indian flag, in the museum. Venkayya hails from Krishna district.

Ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Kodali Sri Venkateshwara Rao, Kurasala Kannababu, Avanti Srinivas, Sidiri Appalaraju, Vasireddy Padma and others also attended the inauguration.
