The 7th edition of Anatomy book released

Tirupati: The 7th edition of Anatomy textbook, revised and edited by SVIMS Prof. Dr V. Subhadra Devi, was released by SVIMS director-cum-vice-chancellor Dr T.S. Ravi Kumar on Friday at the campus in Tirupati.

The textbook was revised and edited in three volumes: Upper limb and Thorax – Volume 1; Lower limb and Abdomen – Volume 2 and Head and Neck and Neuroanatomy – Volume 3. The book was revised and edited, keeping in mind the MCI’s proposed new competency based curriculum and to introduce the fundamentals of basic  principles in clinical practice.

The original author of the book was professor Inderbir Singh (1930-2014), an anatomist, said to be the pillar in education for generations of medical graduates across the globe. The first edition of gross anatomy was published in the year 1996 and now, the 7th edition of the book has been revised and edited by Dr V. Subhadra Devi, professor and HoD of Department of Anatomy in SVIMS.

Point-wise presentation of the text, along with simple diagrams, pictures, flow-charts, tables, mnemonics, for a better understanding and presentation in the examinations by medical students is the hallmark of the 7th edition.
