Hyderabad, Oct 9 (IANS) The Telangana government on Friday decided to hold a special session of the state legislature on October 13-14 to get a few Bills passed.

The Assembly session will begin at 11.30 am on October 13 while the Legislative Council session will convene at 11 am on October 14, an official release said.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, the Bills introduced in the Assembly on October 13 will be placed before the Legislative Council on October 14.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will preside over at Cabinet meeting at 5 pm on Saturday to discuss the Bills to be introduced in the session.

The Cabinet is also expected to discuss the Regulatory Farming Policy to be implemented during the summer season and purchase of paddy.

The CMO had earlier said that the session will be held to make some amendments to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act and pass some laws on the suggestions made by the High Court.

Meanwhile, the CMO said Rao will also hold a review meeting with officials of Agriculture and Civil Supplies Departments on Saturday on the Regulatory Farm Policy Methods to be implemented during the summer season and purchase of agriculture produce in the villages itself.

The meeting will discuss issues like what crops to be cultivated in the summer season and which crops will get more profits.

"The Centre is importing corn on a large scale and this will have an adverse impact on the corn grown within the country. Against this backdrop, a decision should be taken on cultivation of corn in the state. There will be a detailed discussion on the matter at the Saturday meeting," the CM said.

The CM has decided to set up purchase centres in the villages for the safety of farmers amidst the coronavirus pandemic. He will review the setting up of purchase centres in the villages.

"Due to the coronavirus spread, the purchase centres were set up in the villages and the agriculture produce purchased last summer. We have not yet got over the corona threat. Hence, the rainy season's agricultural produce should also be purchased in the villages by setting up the purchase centres," the CM said.

He asked officials to set up 6,000 purchase centres so that farmers don't face any problem in selling their produce. "Make all the arrangements in this regard from the government side. After buying the produce, ensure that the farmers get their money as early as possible," he told the officials.
