SC grants bail to Noida ex-Chief Engineer Yadav Singh

New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Yadav Singh, a former Chief Engineer with the Noida Authority, in a disproportionate assets case.

However, the top court granted liberty to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to apply for cancellation of bail if it apprehends that he is trying to tamper evidence or witnesses.

The CBI has raised strong objection that if Singh is out on bail, he may tamper with evidence. The CBI charge sheet had stated that Singh accumulated disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 23.15 crore, about 512 per cent to his known sources of income, during a test period between April, 2004 to August 4, 2015.
