Bengaluru  Golfers David D'Souza and Digboloi Halder from Bengaluru on Saturday won the selection tournament to earn a place in The Duke of Edinburgh Cup World Finals, scoring 36 points each at the Prestige Golfshire Club here.

The Bengaluru duo with a score of 72 points edged past Hyderabad's Shashidhar Reddy and former India cricketer Venkatapathy Raju's team score of 70 to emerge victorious amongst 100 golfers representing Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mysore and Pune.

Arjun Malik with a score of 75 won the honours for the best individual gross score.

D'Souza and Halder braved tough conditions to walk away with the trophy and an opportunity to represent India at the World Finals, which would be hosted at the private golf course of the Royal family at Windsor Castle, London, from September 29 to October 3.

The duo will be joined by the team of Pranay Puri and Chirag Paul, who have also won the opportunity to represent India at the World Finals after winning the Delhi leg of the qualifiers.

"It will indeed be an honour to represent India at the World Finals. We hope to continue our winning run and make India proud," D'Souza said.

D'Souza and Halder will now face participants from over 12 countries, including South Africa, the UK, France and Ireland, at the World Finals.
