Sharjah 8 Sep : After slamming back-to-back Sixes in the final over of an epic thriller to aid his team in beating Afghanistan the the Pakistan’s No.10 batter Naseem Shah declared that he believed in his ability as he helped his team prepare for their match with Sri Lanka in the final of Asia Cup 2022.

Pakistan required 20 off just 10 balls with two wickets in the bag when Naseem Shah came out towards the middle. The player who only played just one ball in T20Is prior to this, was accompanied by the skilled Asif Ali on the other side of the pitch and he quickly handed over the ball to his more experienced teammate. However, panic was set in after Ali was dismissed at the 5th ball of the penultimate over with Naseem later deciding to take the blame from that point on, with Pakistan still needing 13 runs to secure the victory.“When I was in Asif was in the stadium and my task was to provide him with strike, but when he was out, the burden was my,” Naseem said in the post-match chat with former India captain and coach Ravi Shastri.

Fazalhaq Farooqi who had figures of 3-19-3 at this point, was scheduled to bowl the last over .Naseem stated that he was ready for the yorkers that could be thrown his way, as per an article published on the website of the International Cricket Council.

“When I came in to bat, I believed I could hit Sixes,”” he said.

“I often practice (hitting sixes) and I was aware that yorkers would be bowled once they were playing on the field.

It is important to believe in the system that we continue to practice in the nets.I changed my bat and it worked.

“There is a lack of confidence when you are nine down, but I believed in myself and this is a game that will be memorable for me.”

Naseem’s heroics in the tournament helped Pakistan beat Afghanistan and India out of the tournament, and made way for a mouth-watering game in the championship final with Sri Lanka.
