Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO), Siddipet wing, has been carrying out a campaign across the district to encourage households and businessmen to replace their existing fans, tube lights, and filament bulbs with energy efficient LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs to save on electricity bills considerably. The corporation launched the campaign after their earlier efforts taken up on a pilot basis in some select educational institutions including some houses that yielded great results in the district.

District Manager, Siddipet, TSREDCO, N Rameshwar Rao told that they had deployed six campaign vehicles which would tour the entire district to promote the usage of LED bulbs. During the campaign, the staff will take orders from the consumers to deliver the energy efficient bulbs, fans and tube lights within a short time. As their efforts are yielding good results with the distribution of LED lights and fans, Rao said that they decided to carry out the campaign across the district to encourage people further to replace the regular bulbs and fans with energy efficient ones.

Talking about the energy efficient fan, christened Gorilla, Rao said the fan can save Rs 1,353 a year on electricity bill since its power charges will be only Rs 806 against the Rs 2,160 of regular fans. While the fans are priced at Rs 2,600, the tube light and fan were priced at Rs 300 and Rs 65 respectively.

The TSREDCO, District Manager said that the use of energy efficient fans and lights not only save electricity bills they will also help to save the natural resources like coal, and others.
