Telangana MPs raise steel plant issue in Lok Sabha

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MPs demandeded in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the Centre set up the steel plant, promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, in Bayyaram and take steps to resolve issues pending after the state bifurcation.


Mahbubabad Member of Parliament Kavitha Malothu, while speaking in the Lok Sabha, said that though six years have passed since the bifurcation of the state, the promise of setting up the steel plant has not beben fulfilled.


She said that 20,000 tribal people and Adivasis would get employment if the steel plant was set up in Bayyaram.


Ms Kavitha said that the Centre had not introduced any specific schemes for the welfare of the tribals and Adivasis.


Peddapalli MP B. Venkatesh Nethakani, demanded that the Centre take steps to resolve the promises made during the bifurcation of the state.
