Hyderabad: In light of the alarming rise in the number of accidents involving minor drivers, the Hyderabad traffic police conducted a special drive against minors driving vehicles and booked 204 cases over a span of two days — 54 in the west/central zone, 82 in the east zone, and 68 in the south zone.

The 204 minor drivers and their parents were counselled at the Goshamahal police stadium on Thursday. The minors were warned against driving without licence and valid documents, and parents were asked not to permit their children to drive.

Deputy commissioner of police (Traffic-2) K. Babu Rao said, “Minors driving has been identified as one of the leading causes of accidents and even deaths. The drive was organised to spread awareness.”

He added that once booked and convicted, children are likely to experience difficulty in finding jobs, securing passports, visas, etc.
