Rape is one of the most terrible crimes on earth and it happens every few minutes. The problem with groups who deal with rape is that they try to educate women about how to defend themselves. What really needs to be done is teaching men not to rape.

Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl from Bahadurpura area has alleged that she was gang-raped by four men for four years. The men also videographed the incident and threatened her.

Following a complaint from the girl on December 24, 2018, the Kamatipura police arrested three men, identified as Raju Bhutda, 32, Shubham Vyas, and Abhijeet, who were residents of the same locality.

The men had allegedly mixed sedatives in soft drinks and raped her once she was unconscious. A dharna was held by the victim’s family and 30 people gathered and protested, demanding justice for the girl on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to DC, the family members of the victim said that the men sexually harassed the girl for a long period by threatening her with videos they recorded.

“She slipped into depression and shared her plight with the family members, following which we approached the Bharosa centre here, who then asked us to file a complaint with the Kamatipura police,” said a family member.

The crime primarily occurred in 2015 and the three accused mentioned by the girl were arrested within a week of registration of FIR, said an official from Hyderabad Police.

“The trio were arrested in December. The victim also met Bharosa Centre ACP Narmada, Additional CP Crimes and SIT, Shikha Goel and a counsellor, where three to four rounds of counselling was done,” said the official.

Subsequently, they came to the Bharosa centre again saying that one of the witnesses is also involved in the crime and said that they wanted him to be arrested too.

“We have taken action immediately and have handed over the investigation to out lady officer, ACP Sridevi. She is already going through the records,” said the official, adding that, we will see to it that the statement is being followed for more confirmation accordingly.

The victim’s family stayed on the ground floor and the party involved in the offence stayed on a floor above them in the same building.

Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that the other accused will also be arrested soon and no one will escape the law.

Punishment is justice for the unjust.
