Children forced to beg rescued

Hyderabad: As many as 18 of the 39 children rescued by the Cyberabad She Teams were allegedly made to beg by the families hosting them. 


The children were brought from Vikarabad and Tandur districts stayed with their relatives in Hyderabad and made to beg. 


As part of Operation Smile, Cyberabad SHE teams rescued five children who were begging on the roads, three children who were ragpicking and two child labourers on Saturday. 


Two children were from Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. In January, a total of 39 children were rescued by police. 


Most of them were begging and ragpicking and some of them are child laborers. Most children are from Vikarabad and Tandur districts. 


Four members who were ragpicking were rescued from a dumping yard in Hitec City. Another four members were rescued in the Balanagar area. Two children who were working in shops were rescued and a case has been booked on the shop owners. Operation Smile will be throughout the month of January from 1 to 31. 


We will conduct Operation Smile, we have appointed three teams to rescue children, especially in Cyberabad commissionerate throughout the year, added Anasuya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, SHE teams.
