CS SK Joshi directed to start new courses in education

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Dr SK Joshi on Friday directed education and tribal welfare officials to start new courses for the benefit of tribal students with the help of the University of Hyderabad. During a review meeting at his chambers with officials of the forest, education, tribal welfare departments and UoH, he said the courses should start from the ensuing academic year (June). He said the courses should start functioning from Youth Training Centre of Tribal University at Jakaram and wanted UoH officials to make arrangements, including temporary constructions for the conduct of classes, The CS also added that 30 per cent of supernumerary seats should be reserved for local tribal youth in these new courses, he said.


Joshi said classes would begin in six courses in BA (Hotel Management), BCA, MCA, MBA (Marketing, Packaging with special reference to forest produce), BBA and Masters in Tribal Culture Folklore. “All these courses will have 30 students each,” he said.


He directed the Tribal Welfare Department officials to release Rs 10 crore to Jayashankar Bhupalpally District Collector to acquire land for constructing required buildings. He wanted the officials to prepare an action plan for improving higher educational institutions for tribals.


The CS further issued directions to include principal secretaries of Higher Education, Tribal Welfare and Forest departments as its members in Tribal University Committee.


Principal Secretary (Education) Ajay Mishra, Secretary (Tribal Welfare Department) Benhur Mahesh Dutt Ekka, Commissioner Christina Z Chongthu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally Collector R Venkateshwarlu and other officials were present.
