Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders restricting the tenure of advisers to two years.

This comes after Deccan Chronicle published a report, ‘Jagan hires loyalists as advisers at huge costs’ on October 23, stating the the Jagan government had  hired his loyalists as advisers while the state’s exchequer was ailing.

Each adviser has been appointed with a different length of tenure. The government order was based on a note prepared by principal secretary to the Chief Minister on Wednesday, the day the report was published by Deccan Chronicle.

“The government appoints advisers to government on various subjects from time to time, with different tenures. To bring uniformity in the tenure of the advisers, the government hereby orders the fixing of the tenure of all the advisers on various subjects to two (2) years irrespective of rank/status from the date of appointment or till the necessity ceases, whichever is earlier,” the government order said.

“This will be in force with retrospective effect. The G.A. (Claims.A) department is requested to take necessary action accordingly,” said the GO No. 2344 issued by General Administration Department (GAD),” it stated.
