EC Appoints 102 poll observers for elections

As many as 102 observers drawn from IT and customs departments appointed by the Election Commission of India would be arriving in the state to oversee the election expenditure during the campaign for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said in a statement here on Sunday.


The observes would arrive in the state on Monday, he said and appealed to the political parties and the contesting candidates to extend their cooperation for the implementation of model of code of conduct prescribed by the EC. The CEO said that 25 observers to oversee the expenditure of Lok Sabha candidates and 77 for overseeing the expenditure of the Assembly candidates would be arriving here. He appealed to all the political parties to extend their cooperation in the smooth and peaceful conducting of elections in the state.
